2 hour exposure

I have gotten into star trails a lot lately, this is my most recent one. Placed the north star in the upper right corner and it worked out great with the placement of the pier. Unfortunately a fog rolled in halfway through the star trail, that made editing fun :-/ Also, I wish I had known that the water was so scummy before I began shooting, it was too dark out to see

Overall, I'm pretty pleased!

Love this. I'm sure you'v heard the comparison before, but it really does remind me of Van Gogh's Starry Night.

It`s perfect

I am in envy. I have tried my hand at a few of these now from 30 seconds to several minutes, to over 15 minutes and none turned out nearly so crisp, and beautiful. I hadn't noticed the water until you mentioned it--just the reflection of the prominent stars.

I've researched conflicting advice on ISO and aperture for these shots. If you don't mind me asking, what were yours set at? I realize results will vary by camera, but I'm starting to wonder if my sony A33 isn't built as well for the low light shots with its "superior speed" translucent mirror... I would love to try your stacking method.
